Our Matriarch — Because She Said So
The Space

A living room
for creatives.

M8triarch is a gathering place for artists, cultural workers, and thinkers — shaped for presence, exchange, and growth. It was built in response to the realities of creative life, where conversation, rest, and care are as essential as the work itself.

We approach value as a standard. Creative labor, lived experience, and cultural contribution are acknowledged with clarity and respect. M8triarch prioritizes underrepresented voices, creating conditions where people are supported without having to justify their worth.

Creatives thrive when they stop performing stability and start living inside of it.

What began as a physical home in Graça, Lisbon continues to expand — as a platform for programming, residencies, gatherings, and future initiatives that extend beyond a single location.

Inside M8triarch
Our Ethos

How we hold
the room.

M8triarch is not a coworking space, a gallery, or an accelerator. It is a living room — with all the intimacy, rhythm, and responsibility that implies. Programming here moves at the pace of the work, not the calendar.

01

Gather

The Salon, UNSEEN, private dinners, and First Fridays — recurring gatherings built around presence and slow exchange.

02

Reside

Artists are invited — not selected through application — to use M8triarch as a platform for developing a body of work.

03

Grow

M8triarch is becoming a cultural association, enabling direct artist support, funding partnerships, and expanded programming.

04

Sustain

We are building long-term infrastructure for creative practice — economic, institutional, and cultural — with a transatlantic lens.

Meet the Founder

Alanna Nichelle

I'm a creative strategist, curator, and entrepreneur shaped by a life built through art, intuition, and return. My path has moved through creation and collapse, visibility and solitude — always circling back to the same question: how to live authentically without losing oneself in the process.

M8triarch grew from that lived inquiry. It reflects what I have learned over time — that beauty steadies the nervous system, that rhythm creates trust, and that belonging allows creative work to deepen.

The name comes from my grandmother — Nona, the Matriarch of my family. She was the reason we gathered. Her phrase, "Can you imagine?" was an opening, a wonder, and sometimes, even invitation to see beyond what was immediately visible. I carry those words as a guide.I carry that curiousity throughout my creative practice and within every space, I call home.

"M8triarch is one expression of that question — a space built to hold possibility, imagination, and the courage to become more than what we first envision."
