Meet the Artists

M8TRIARCH is a living gallery and home for artists, writers, curators, and cultural workers who carry stories of home, lineage, and becoming. This page is where we gather the people connected to the house — those exhibiting, in residence, or building projects in collaboration with us.

Over time, this space will highlight several featured artists at once, creating a pathway for patrons to support them directly and seed future work here at M8TRIARCH and in the other spaces they are called to.

Featured & Upcoming Artists

Artist & Atelier Inquiries

If you feel drawn to M8TRIARCH — to exhibit, develop a project, host an activation, or ground your practice in the house for a season — we’d love to hear from you.

We currently welcome inquiries from artists, curators, writers, photographers, designers, sound and performance artists, and cultural workers whose practices are aligned with:

  • Matriarchal lineages, care, and guardianship
  • Diaspora stories, migration, and return
  • Home, sanctuary, and interior worlds
  • Collaborative, cross-disciplinary work anchored in respect

You do not need to have it all figured out. A clear intention and a sense of why you’re reaching out is enough to begin the conversation.

If the form link does not open for any reason, please email hello@m8triarch.com with: a short introduction, a project idea or focus, location, and desired dates or season.

Ways to Work with M8TRIARCH

Below are two primary pathways for artists and cultural workers: exhibiting in the living gallery, and activating the Atelier through short-term practice or project development.

Exhibit at M8TRIARCH

Exhibitions at M8TRIARCH are intimate and story-led. The house functions as a living gallery, where work is held alongside daily life, conversation, and gathering.

We’re especially drawn to:

  • Painting, collage, photography, textile, sculpture, and mixed media
  • Installations that respond to domestic space and interior worlds
  • Work centering Black and underrepresented artists and diasporic narratives
  • Projects that invite some form of listening: talks, salons, sound, or shared table

What to include in your inquiry or form:

  • Short artist statement (4–6 sentences)
  • 2–3 project or exhibition concepts you would like to develop here
  • Links to portfolio, website, or social media with recent work
  • Ideal timing (month/season) and whether you’d like an opening, salon, or small program

After reviewing your materials, we’ll follow up if there is a potential fit with current and upcoming programming. From there, we can explore timelines, production needs, and potential public moments connected to your exhibition.

Atelier Activation & Practice

The Atelier at M8TRIARCH is a flexible, lived-in workspace for short-term creative practice, writing, research, and project incubation. Think: a soft landing for a focused season of work.

Atelier activations can look like:

  • A week of concentrated writing, editing, or book development
  • Preparing a new body of work before an exhibition or residency elsewhere
  • Testing a workshop, performance, or intimate activation with a small invited group
  • Research, moodboarding, or visual development time rooted in Lisbon

What to include in your inquiry or form:

  • Your primary medium or practice (even if multidisciplinary)
  • What you’d like to work on during your time in the Atelier
  • Preferred dates or range (and whether you require housing on-site)
  • Any public-facing moment you’d like to offer (open studio, small talk, sharing circle, etc.)

Atelier time can be paired with a stay at M8TRIARCH or structured as a daytime practice depending on alignment, availability, and the nature of your project.
