“CAN YOU IMAGINE…..”
Our Matriarch- In loving Memory 12.12.24
BECAUSE SHE SAID SO.
M8TRIARCH is a living room for creatives.
A space shaped for artists, cultural workers, and thinkers to gather with intention, to rest, to exchange, and to grow. It was created in response to the realities of creative life, where presence, conversation, and care are as essential as the work itself.
Our ethos is rooted in holding space with integrity. We approach value as a standard, acknowledging creative labor, lived experience, and cultural contribution with clarity and respect. M8triarch prioritizes underrepresented voices and practices, creating environments where people are supported without having to justify their worth.
While M8triarch began as a physical home, it continues to expand as a platform for creative growth. The space serves as a foundation for programming, residencies, gatherings, and future initiatives that extend beyond a single location. Our vision supports connection and development through evolving forms of exchange, both within physical space and beyond it.
M8triarch exists to cultivate long-term pathways for creative practice, grounded in care, culture, and collaboration. We hold space with intention so that others can step more fully into their work, their voices, and their becoming.
Hello, World!
Meet the Founder
Alanna Nichelle
I’m Alanna Nichelle, a well seasoned Entrepreneur, Creative strategist and Curator- shaped by a life built through art, intuition, and return. My path has moved through creation and collapse, visibility and solitude, always circling back to the same question of how to live authentically without losing oneself in the process.
M8triarch grew from that lived inquiry. It is a space shaped by experience rather than theory, informed by the seasons that ask for momentum and the ones that ask for care. The space reflects what I have learned over time, that beauty steadies the nervous system, that rhythm creates trust, and that belonging allows creative work to deepen.
The name M8triarch comes from an understanding embodied my Grandmother, Nona, the MATRIARCH of my family foundation.
She was the reason we gathered, the steady presence that turned a single space into something shared and alive. Her way of holding people, created a sense of belonging that stayed with me long after the rooms emptied and evolved into separate spaces of their own.
My life and my creative work have followed a less traditional path, shaped by curiosity, risk, and trusting my own rhythm. In moments of uncertainty, I return to her example. She reminds me to stay the course and to never settle for less than what feels honest.
One phrase she echoed in so many moments: “Can you imagine?!”…. was used it as an opening, a wonder and an invitation to see beyond what was immediately visible. I carry those words with me as a guide, applying them in new forms that encourage growth beyond our own expectations.
M8triarch is one expression of that question, a space built to hold possibility, imagination, and the courage to become more than what we first envision. The ability to create home, no matter where you began, while honoring where you are becoming….
